LIRR Mural, Baldwin Station
The Baldwin Civic Association, which is involved in local beautification projects, invited White to create a permanent mural for the Baldwin Station of the Long Island Railroad. During meetings with the BCA and a team from the LIRR, an image, scale, and location for the painting were decided on. The mural depicts the “lead horse” from Nunley’s Carousel, which was carved in 1912, and operated in Baldwin for 55 years. This seven-foot-high acrylic painting faces Sunrise Highway at Grand Ave, a short distance from the original site of Nunley’s.
